Managing email campaigns effectively requires understanding how campaign links function, when they expire, and how follow-ups or reminders can be handled. This guide answers common questions about link reactivation, sending reminders, and factors that cause links to expire.

1) Can you reactivate the link from the original automated email after the campaign was closed?

Once a campaign is closed, the submission links associated with it are deactivated and cannot be reactivated. You will need to send a new campaign to generate a new active link. This is intentional for campaign integrity and security tracking so submissions are tied to the correct campaign window, recipient, and tracking history.

2) After submitting an email campaign, can you send reminders from the same campaign to trigger another email?

At this time, there is no feature to send reminder emails from the same campaign once it has been submitted. To remind customers, you will need to send a new email campaign, which generates a new link. Best practice is to treat reminders as a new outreach message rather than a strict one-to-one follow up to the original send.

In practice, exemption certificates renew and expire on different timelines, contacts can change, and messages may route through aliases or different email addresses. Because of this, what counts as an “initial request” versus a “follow up” is not always clear. A well-intentioned reminder can sometimes create confusion if treated as a single one-off request.

We recommend using wording that is slightly more open-ended such as: “You may receive multiple requests over time due to certificate expirations, changes in business activity, or outstanding documentation.”

3) When, or what actions, can cause a campaign link to expire?

A campaign link will expire when it reaches the account’s expiration horizon, which for your account is set to 30 days for security purposes. If you would like to extend this period, let us know we can override the default period. In addition, links can become inactive if the campaign is closed, including cases where the campaign is manually closed or treated as complete (for example, after the customer has responded/submitted and the campaign is considered concluded).
